We have all been in the situation where we have been required to stretch our food budget. Here are 5 hearty dinner meals that I have prepared for my family for less than $10.00 each.
Spaghetti and Meatballs
$ 1.00 1 pound box of spaghetti
$ 1.00 1-16 ounce jar of spaghetti source
$ 6.00 2 orders of meatballs (6 in total) from your local pizzeria.
$ 1.00 1 loaf of French bread (Best bread in America-Walmart)
$ 9.00 Total
Chicken with Noodles
$ 6.00 3 boneless chicken breasts
$ 2.00 1-23 ounce Cream of Chicken soup
$ 1.69 1-16 ounce package of egg noodles
$ 9.69 Total
Recipe: Cut chicken into bite size pieces; brown chicken in skillet until done using olive oil or margarine; Add 1 can of Cream of Chicken soup plus ˝ can of water; mix well-let simmer for 10 minutes; serve over noodles.
Beef with Rice
$ 4.99 1 pound beef strips for stir-fry
$ 2.00 2-14.5 ounce cans of stewed tomatoes
$ 1.00 1-15 ounce cans of tomato sauce
$ 2.00 1- box of white rice to serve 4-5 people
$ 9.99 Total
Recipe: Heat olive oil in skillet; Dredge beef in flour; season with salt and pepper; brown meat in skillet; Add stewed tomatoes (cut in bite size pieces); add tomato sauce; simmer for 1-2 hours on low heat; serve over rice.
French Toast & Bacon
$ 3.29 1 loaf of Texas size bread
$ 4.99 1 pound package of bacon
$ 1.59 1 dozen eggs
$ 9.87 Total
Chicken Caesar Salad
$ 5.99 1 Rotisserie chicken
$ 2.50 1-10 ounce bag of romaine lettuce
$ 1.00 1 loaf of French bread
$ 9.49 Total
