Usually I don’t eat breakfast before work, but today for
whatever reason I went to The Oak Room on Sixth for breakfast.
“I’m Lisa, and I’ll be your server today,” this very cute
young lady said as she stood at my table holding a coffee pot. “Coffee?”
“Actually, I came here for breakfast and because I know you
serve Kemosabe gourmet coffee.”
“That’s right, sir.”
“Please don’t call me sir. Only my kids call me sir,” I jokingly
replied, to which Lisa smiled. My name is Ken.”
“OK, Ken. We have several flavors of Kemosabe gourmet
coffee: Mocha, chocolate cinnamon, chocolate hazelnut, French vanilla and
chocolate irish cream.”
“I think I’ll have the chocolate cinnamon.”
“I’ll be back in a minute with your coffee and to take your
order,” she replied, handing me a menu.
To make a long story short, fifteen minutes later, half way
through my “cholesterol” breakfast of a three egg, bacon and swiss omelet, Lisa
approached my table. “How’s your breakfast, Ken?” she asked.
“Actually it’s very good, but it makes me realize why I don’t
eat breakfast every day,” I said before I took the last sip of my chocolate cinnamon
gourmet coffee.
“Would you like more coffee,” Lisa asked.
“Yes, please. But just a half cup,” I stated as Lisa could hardly
refrain herself from laughing as she turned and walked away.
A few minutes later Lisa returned and literally placed a
half cup of gourmet coffee in front of me. “Ken, here’s your half cup of
Kemosabe chocolate cinnamon gourmet coffee, she said as all the other waiters, waitresses
and cooks looked on laughing.”
We both then had a good hardy laugh.
