“Good morning gentlemen. My name is Sydney and I’ll be your
server this morning. May I get you some coffee?”
“Yes, please,” Larry, my supervisor, replied.
“And for you, sir?”
“Just a cup of hot water, please.”
“I’ll be back in a few minutes to take your order,” Sydney
replied as she looked at me in an odd way.
“I never heard of anyone ordering just a cup of hot water,”
Larry stated.
“I do it all the time when I go out to breakfast.”
“You actually drink just plain hot water?”
“No, Larry,” I replied, as I reached into my jacket pocket
and took out a Kemosabe Irish cream single serve coffee packet. “I carry serve
of these single serve coffee packets with me where ever I go, this way I get to
always enjoy my favorite coffee.”
“Clever, Peter. Clever,” Larry replied, reaching for the
single serve coffee packet. “Boy this smells delicious,” he added as he held
the single serve coffee packet up to his nose.”
A few minutes later Sydney returned holding two coffee cups.
“Here is your coffee, sir,” she stated placing a cup of black coffee in front
of me. “And a cup of hot water for you, sir,” she added.
After the waitress took our breakfast order I emptied the
contents of the chocolate irish cream single serve coffee packet into my cup of
hot water. No sooner had I begun to stir in the contents than Larry stopped
pouring milk into his black cup of coffee and looked at me. “Boy, Peter, that
smells delicious.”
“It tastes even better,” I replied, taking my first sip of
coffee.
“Would you like to try some? I have another single serve
coffee packet on in my pocket.”
“If you don’t mind.”
A few minutes later Sydney brought us our breakfast order. “Is
there anything else I can get you?” she asked.
“Actually, I’ll have a cup of hot water,” Peter replied, as
we both laughed.
