Relaxing With KEMOSABE Gourmet Coffee On The First Day Of School

Posted by Southwest Beverages on 8/8/2015

I have always found the first day of school to be exciting and rewarding but boy does it come with a price. This year, my twin boys, Ryan and Craig, will be attending kindergarten. I have spent most of the summer preparing them for school. We practiced how to sit still, how to wait and how to listen. I read them numerous books about school and all the fun things it has to offer. Hopefully my efforts will enable me to enjoy a few hours of personal time every day before they come home at noon.

The day began with the full force and fury of a "Cat-5" hurricane making landfall. The sound of music coming from the nearby kid's bathroom awoke me at 6:15 AM. Trisha, my 12-year-old, was already up and in the bathroom excited for her first day of middle school. The loud music also awoke my 10-year-old daughter, Becky, and the twins. Over the course of the next ninety minutes I broke up two fights, one between Becky and Trisha over the use of the hair dryer and one between the twins (Ryan put ketchup in Ryan's cereal), had a "motherly" talk with Trisha on what not to wear to school, prepared lunches, dressed the twins and made myself look "presentable" for the walk to the bus stop with the twins.

Tears came to my eyes as the boys stepped onto the bus. To be honest I don't know if they were tears of a mother watching her boys grow up or tears of joy for me knowing that I was going to finally have a few hours to myself each morning.  Forty-five minutes later, feeling refreshed and relaxed from a hot shower, I made myself a cup of my favorite French vanilla gourmet coffee. Cradling my hands around the cup, I paused for a moment to enjoy the coffee's delightful aroma, and then I look my first sip. The satisfaction I was enjoying suddenly became disrupted when, out of the corner of my eye, I saw Becky's lunch. So much for relaxing on the first day of school with my favorite gourmet coffee," I whispered out of frustration as I put down my coffee cup, picked up her lunch, grabbed my car keys and headed for the garage.
