“You’re early,” I called out from my bedroom to my friend,
Ronnie, who was one of several friends helping me move today. “I’ll be out in a minute. I’m just finishing
getting dressed,” I called back. “Help yourself to some coffee.”
“Where’s the coffee? Ronnie called back.
“It’s on the second shelf in the cupboard next to the refrigerator.”
“Is this it?” Ronnie asked, referring to the box of Kemosabe
French vanilla gourmet coffee I had purchased yesterday for my friends who were
helping me move today from my studio to a two-bedroom apartment closer to my
job.
“Yes,” I replied as I emerged from the bedroom and walked
towards Ronnie. “Thanks for coming to help me move. I really appreciate it,” I
stated shaking Ronnie’s hand and taking the box of Kemosabe French vanilla
gourmet coffee from him. “Make yourself at home,” I added. “Jimmy, Carol and
Tommy should be here in a few minutes.
Over the next fifteen minutes Jimmy, Carol and Tommy arrived,
made small talk and enjoyed toast and French vanilla gourmet coffee.
“Now then,” I began. “Here’s the plan for the move. Carol
and Jimmy, if you don’t mind can you pack up the dishes, glasses and pots in
the kitchen. Ronnie and I will take all the boxes that have been packed down to
the truck. With any luck we should be out of here by 11 AM,” I stated after I
had taken a sip of coffee from the mug of french vanilla gourmet coffee I was
holding.
“This should be a real moving experience,” Carol stated.
“It already has,” Ronnie replied.
