How quickly the seasons changes from summer to fall. Think
about it for a minute. It’s Labor Day and the summer sun still offers beach
days. Thirty days later the chill of the autumn air descents creating frost on the
pumpkins, sweaters to be worn, leaves to change and pumpkin spice hot cocoa mix
to be purchased. I’ve always enjoyed the early autumn-sunny, glorious dry days
and cool, chilling nights-great for sleeping with the windows open and sitting
on your porch enjoying pumpkin spice hot chocolate.
“Sam, I’ll be on the porch writing tomorrow’s blog” I said
to my wife, Samantha after we had just finished eating dinner. “I thought the
cool, dry autumn air would motive me to write,” I added, referring to the 47-degree
weather.
Ten minutes later, Sam emerged on the porch holding two
mugs. “I thought you would enjoy a mug of your favorite hot chocolate,” she
stated as she handed me one of the mugs and then took a seat next to me.
“Why, what a pleasant surprise,” I declared as I accepted
the mug. “Pumpkin spice, I
wholeheartedly announced. “How I love this drink.”
“I thought you might enjoy it on this rather cool autumn
night, Sam passionately stated. “I’m sure it will take the nip of the cool
night away with its warming blend of nutmeg and cinnamon spice.”
“Boy am I glad you purchased that box of Sippity pumpkin
spice hot cocoa mix this afternoon at the supermarket,” I stated holding my mug
up in Sam’s direction to show my appreciation after I had just taken a sip from
my mug.
For the next forty-five minutes, Sam and I sat in our adirondack
chairs on the front porch of our house enjoying each other’s company, the cool
autumn air and our mugs of pumpkin spice hot cocoa.
“You know, honey, I can get into the habit of sitting out
here every night enjoying a mug of pumpkin spice hot chocolate,” I stated to
Sam as I placed my mug on the coffee table that separated Sam and I.
“It’s the season for pumpkin spice,” she replied. “Why don’t
I make some pumpkin spice cupcakes for you and the kids tomorrow. I have a
great recipe that uses Sippity pumpkin spice hot cocoa mix.”
“That would be great, Sam. We’ll enjoy them.”
“We’ll enjoy them?” Sam sarcastically stated referring to
the fact that I have been known to eat all the cupcakes before the kids had
any.
