Like most days since I left Gail, Texas after high school and
came to New York City to pursue a career in acting I began my day by making a
cup of Kemosabe chocolate cinnamon flavored coffee and studying my lines for
the off Broadway play I am starring in. For whatever reason, on this
particular dreary, rainy morning, I stopped rehearsing my lines, put my notes
to one side and began staring at the red cup of steaming hot chocolate cinnamon
flavored coffee I had placed on the windowsill in my kitchen. For the next ten minutes, I became mesmerized
by the cup of coffee sitting on my windowsill that I began to reminisce about how
my acting career had evolved over the past eleven years from Gail, TX to
Broadway.

People write to Southwest Beverages and ask how is it that
our Sippity hot chocolate mix, when compared to other premium quality gourmet
hot chocolate mix brands on the market, is so irresistibility smooth? There are
three factors to the answer of this question. First, we use only the best
American made ingredients in all our Sippity gourmet hot chocolate mix products.
Second, our gourmet hot chocolate mix blend contains all the ingredients-cocoa,
flavoring, creamer, sugar, etc.-necessary so that the consumer doesn’t have to add any additional ingredients. Third, we use a proprietary blending process, which,
I believe, is the only one of its kind in use in the United States today. The
end result, an irresistibility smooth gourmet hot chocolate mix; one that does
not lump when stirred and one that completely dissolves when mixed with water.
A claim, I believe, can only be made by Sippity hot chocolate mix.

“Boy, will this winter ever end?” Josh stated to me as he
walked into the locker room of R & S Furniture Distributors in Schaumberg,
IL, referring to the overnight late March snow storm that dumped nine-inches of
snow on the greater Chicago area.
“Morning, Josh,” I replied, adding, “Yeah, and next week it
will be seventy.”
“Well, it might well be seventy next week but today its
thirty-three and we have a full schedule of deliveries.”
“Give me fifteen minutes, Josh, and I’ll be ready to go. I
just have to pick up our delivery tickets from Sally in accounting and a make a
thermos of Sippity Raspberry hot chocolate.”
“Now that’s a new Sippity flavor I never heard you mention
before.”

“Good morning gentlemen. My name is Sydney and I’ll be your
server this morning. May I get you some coffee?”
“Yes, please,” Larry, my supervisor, replied.
“And for you, sir?”
“Just a cup of hot water, please.”
“I’ll be back in a few minutes to take your order,” Sydney
replied as she looked at me in an odd way.
“I never heard of anyone ordering just a cup of hot water,”
Larry stated.
“I do it all the time when I go out to breakfast.”
“You actually drink just plain hot water?”
“No, Larry,” I replied, as I reached into my jacket pocket
and took out a Kemosabe Irish cream single serve coffee packet. “I carry serve
of these single serve coffee packets with me where ever I go, this way I get to
always enjoy my favorite coffee.”

“Let me ask you a question, Chloe” my best friend stated to
me as we stood in my kitchen in the middle of the afternoon drinking coffee,
while waiting for the school bus to drop our kids off. “Why is it that every time
I come over here you have such delicious coffee?”
“Olivia, whenever I come to your house you always give me a
cup of delicious coffee.”
“It’s no where as good as this coffee, which is what I don’t
understand. I have the most expensive Keurig coffee machine and I only buy good
quality k-cups.”
Jokingly, I replied, “Well Olivia at least your heading in
the right direction.”
“How’s that?’

“I need some coffee,” my best friend Jessie said to me
outside the university library when we finally stopped studying at 5:45 AM for
our 7:00 AM mid-term in advanced statistics.
“I agree with you, Kelly. We need to get a bite to eat and
get some caffeine into our bodies,” I replied in a concerned tone.
“Eating now will be the worst thing we could possibly do. It
will fill us and make us tired.”
“But I’m hungry. We’ve been in that library since 9 PM last
night.”
“I know, Kelly. If it weren’t for us drinking two containers
of Kemosabe hazelnut flavored decaf coffee each we would not have been able to
stay awake long enough to prepare for this test. I suggest we go to the Student
Union and get some fruit or cereal and another container of Kemosabe chocolate
hazelnut flavored decaf coffee.”
“Let’s go. I’m starving.”

“Janice, this the best tasting gluten free coffee I have
ever tasted,” I said to my wife who had just made me a cup of Kemosabe
chocolate cinnamon gluten free coffee for me to enjoy on my birthday. “Sensational!”
I added, after taking a sip and returning my mug to the table in front of me.
“I thought you would enjoy it,” Janice replied in a pleasant
tone knowing that she had given me a wonderful gift for my birthday.
“You know, Janice, being gluten intolerance not only greatly
limits what food and beverages I can have but of those that are gluten free
there are few that taste good. Certainly not this good!”
“I know, honey. That’s why I got you Kemosabe gourmet gluten
free coffee for your birthday.”

As humans we strive to have peace of mind, a healthy body
and a clean spirit. While there are many ways to feel good about yourself,
balancing your mind, body and spirit is one of them. When these three mental,
physical and spiritual factors come together they form your equilibrium. It is
at this place that you not only feel good, but you look upon the world
differently. To re-enforce your equilibrium point it is important that you
start your day off with a healthy breakfast.

We all studied DNA in high school but most likely have
forgotten exactly what DNA stands for and is. DNA is the abbreviation for
deoxyribonucleic acid, which, simply put, is a long molecule that contains each
person's unique, hereditary genetic code. It contains the biological instructions
that make every person unique, and all living creatures for that matter. It
defines our development as humans, our behavioral traits and how we re-produce.
It also includes the decision making process of how we select our hot chocolate
mix.

“Oh Janice, you were right! This crème butterscotch coffee
is absolutely delicious,” my co-worker said to me after I gave her a Kemosabe crème
butterscotch single serve coffee packet to try. “Not only is it delicious but I
believe it is the best tasting instant coffee I think I ever had. How did you
discover this?”
“As you know Cindy, I’m always trying new things particularly
new gourmet flavored coffee. Last week, while I was doing my weekly food
shopping, I came across a box of Kemosabe crème butterscotch coffee.”
“That’s a rather different flavor.”
“Exactly, Cindy. From the moment I first picked it up the aroma
of the crème butterscotch instantly brought back memories of when I was a
little girl and went to visit my grandmother, who always had a bowl of crème butterscotch
candies ready for my taking.”

One of the things I like most about winter is that my Mom
gives me hot chocolate after school as a treat. She knows that I like Sippity hot
chocolate mix and that the chocolate, chocolate marshmallow and chocolate
peppermint hot chocolate flavors are my favorites. My friend Steven likes to
come to my house after school because he knows my Mom will make him chocolate
peppermint hot chocolate-his favorite, which she usually tops off with whipped
cream.
Today we got out of school early because of the snow.
Because it was Friday I asked Steven and Joey to come home with me so that we
could play in the snow. No sooner did we get settled in the house than my Mom
brought us three mugs of chocolate peppermint hot chocolate.

“Ronnie, Brad came to me yesterday and told me that the
senior class is short about $8,000 to fund this year’s prom,” referring to Brad
Verrett the senior class president of Moorefield High School.
“We haven’t had this situation in quite some time,” Ronnie Engelmann,
the principal stated with concern. “Any ideas, Gloria?”
“I don’t know, Ronnie. That’s a lot of money to raise with
only eight weeks until the prom and, as you know I’m in charge of raising funds
for the graduation party, which by the way also needs about $8,000 to do all
the events we are planning to have.”
“That’s $16,000 that the PTA is looking to raise. Gloria, I
have all the confidence in the world that you will raise the money but how are
you going to do it?
“At this point I honestly don’t know, other than to tell you
that we will be having a number of fundraising events over the next several

All of us have had those times in our lives where
everything, and I mean everything, seems to go wrong. Be it a medical problem,
car problem, child problem, relationship problem or the most likely root of all
causes, a money problem.
Over the course of the past week or so it seems like the
mother tsunami of all problems was thrust upon me. To be honest I had this
happen twice in my life in the past and I found the best may forward starts
with a good self-talking too. Never give up hope. Everything can be worked out.
Last
night I decided to drop everything tomorrow and I called out sick, or that’s at
least what my employer will record in the records-I call it an “Attitude
Adjustment Day”.

“What a terrible day to march in the St. Patrick’s Day
parade,” my high school classmate, Noreen, said to me as I was finishing getting
dressed in my bedroom, referring to the wind swept rain that was forecasted all
day today in Manhattan.
“You girls had better dress warmer than that,” my Mom said
when she popped her head into my bedroom to say hello to Noreen holding a cup
of Kemosabe chocolate irish cream gourmet coffee. “It’s supposed to be only
forty-one degrees at noon. You girls are going to freeze wearing those short skirts.”
“Mom, it’s the school uniform! If we don’t wear our uniform
Sister Joan will crack me on my knuckles with her wooden ruler tomorrow in class.
“
“Well at least put on some woolen tights and for heaven
sake, pull your shirt down to your knee cap, where its support to be!” Mom
demanded. “I’ll deal with Sister Joan
tomorrow, she stated as she walked away talking another sip of her chocolate
Irish cream gourmet coffee.

Something that will get me going in the morning and make me happy.”
“I have just the right coffee for you. My husband, Paul,

Chicago’s sewer system. Anyway, Joyce, it’s called Kemosabe coffee and it’s the

“Would you like some?” I asked.
“Susan, honestly these look to good to eat. But yes, I would

“What’s in the French toast?”
“Actually it’s hot chocolate.”

“I can’t wait for spring break next week to come and see you.
What’s going on?”
“Actually, I just finished ‘waking-up’ my parent’s

fertilizing of the lawn that occurs on the first warm day in late winter. “My Mom just brought me a nice tall glass of

My seventeen-year-old daughter, Bailey, is a junior at
Brookline High School in Del Mar, California and plays on the school’s soccer
team. The first game of the season they lost a “heart-breaker” when the
opposing team scored a goal with fifteen seconds left off of, in my opinion, a
very disputed penalty kick. Today the team is playing Torrey Pines High School,
one of the better teams in the league. Bailey is worried if the team loses and
goes 0-2 they could very well have no chance of making the playoffs this season
as several other teams in the league are expected to go undefeated, including Torrey
Pines.
“Bailey, honey, don’t worry about the game,” her father
advised at the breakfast table. “You and your team have trained long and hard
for this season.”
“I know, Dad, but to lose your opening game has taken the momentum
out of the team.”
“Bailey, this is your job as team captain,” I stated as I approached
the table holding a cup of Kemosabe French vanilla flavored coffee. “You have
to motivate the team,” I added. “Talk to them before the game. Put some of that
“killer instinct” you have into them.”

Having put in an eighty-hour week I decided last night that
I would sleep in tomorrow morning or at least until 10 AM when my ex-wife,
Linda, was to bring over our two sons for me to watch for the weekend. The rays of the morning sun radiating down on
my bed awoke me at 9:20 AM. I laid in bed for the next ten minutes enjoying the
warmth of the sun after a long hard Boston winter and took toll of my life. Divorced,
37-year-old father of two boy’s-Adam 8 and Kyle 6, living in a two-bedroom
apartment on Boston’s north end and no girlfriend to speak of, other than a few
dates here and there.
Something this morning felt different. Perhaps it was the
fact that the forecasted temperature was to be seventy-seven degrees, a rare
spring day given this time of year in Boston. A day when you have that extra “bounce”
in your step and love is in the air. Realizing that Linda would be dropping the
boys off in twenty minutes, I quickly showered and made myself a delicious cup
of Kemosabe chocolate hazelnut instant coffee. No sooner did I get to enjoy a
few sips of my hazelnut instant coffee than my doorbell rang.

I'm senior at Marshall High School in Little Rock Arkansas
and today in our entrepreneurial class our teacher assigned us a project that
requires us to pick a consumer goods product to study and make a class
presentation. I chose Sippity hot cocoa mix not only because I like it but
because I believe it is the best hot chocolate mix in America.
In researching the brand, I found that its brand positioning
is quite unique in that the company encourages consumers to become part of the
brand. Consumers are encouraged to send in their photographs drinking Sippity
hot cocoa mix for a chance to appear on the cover of one of their brand flavors
or to appear in the “Mug-Shots” section on the back of each hot cocoa mix box.
Consumers are also encouraged to submit recipes and testimonials, which might
appear on the company website.

Every year most companies spend a lot of money to improve
their products quality control. As with everything in life there is an
exception to this rule. That exception occurs in the banquet business where the
banquet facility’s quality control program rests with the opinion of the mother
of the bride. If you want to have the best food, service and atmosphere in the
banquet business ask the mother of the bride for her opinion (or in some unfortunate
instances she will tell you). Accordingly, we respect and cherish the opinion
of Moms who serve Sippity Lite to their family. To date we have heard nothing
but praise for Sippity Lite from Mom’s who have told us it is the best hot
chocolate mix in America.

I knew that this will be a rather long call so I made myself
a cup of Kemosabe chocolate hazelnut gourmet flavored coffee before I sat down
to call Jerry, the partner of our account at Lippett, Moore & Douglas, CPA’s.
“Hi Jerry, Frank Bowman here. As you know our company has
been contemplating purchasing Wickman Tool & Die for some time now. Last
night the Wickman board accepted our offer.” “That’s great, Frank. Congratulations. It will be a
wonderful fit.”
“Jerry, we need to engage your firm to review and
certify five years of the financial statements of Wickman before we can close
the deal. Time is of the essence,” I added. “As Chief Financial Officer of the
company the board told me they want this deal done within the next two months.
I know that this puts you under a lot of pressure to get your side of things
done but that’s the timeline.”

Let's face it-today's life style is much more complex than
it was twenty years ago. Take looking for a job. In the "old" days you prepared
a resume, e-mailed it to a prospective employer and waited for a reply. Today
you have to go on-line and spend, on average, forty-five minutes filling out a
comprehensive application, only to see it disappear into "space". Another
example. Employers today expect you to be "on-call" not quite 24-7 but
certainly from 6 AM to 10 PM. This has added a lot of added demands on the
employee and their family. The last thing you need to worry about in this
environment is to have trouble with your coffee pot in the morning. One such
way to avoid this potential problem, and to ensure that you enjoy your favorite
coffee all day long, regardless of where you go, is to always have available
Kemosabe gourmet flavored single serve coffee packets.

“Larry, I need a favor,” my sister stated when she called me
at work on Friday afternoon.
“Sure, what’s up?”
“It’s Sammy. She’s hanging out again with the wrong kids and
I’m afraid of what might happen this weekend.”
“What might happen this weekend?
“It seems several of her friends are going to one of their
girlfriend’s house for the weekend and I found out the girl’s parents will be
out of town for both days. And we all know what happened the last time Sammy
sleep over at her girlfriend’s house!” I proclaimed, referring to when Sammy
was arrested for underage drinking.”
“Sure, Megan, I’ll watch her for the weekend, attitude and
all. Can you do me a favor? Drop her off at my workplace since I have to work
till 6 PM tonight?”
“No problem, Larry. I certainly appreciate it. What’s your
work address?”
“6207 E. Spindrift Road in Madison.”
Promptly at 6 PM Larry punched out and headed for the
company cafeteria to get three containers of Sippity chocolate cinnamon
flavored hot chocolate. One for me to enjoy on my drive back to Milwaukee, one was
for Sammy and one was for himself. He figured everyone would enjoy a nice
container of chocolate cinnamon flavored hot chocolate since it was eighteen
degrees out.

To celebrate our eighteenth wedding anniversary, yesterday
my wonderful and romantic husband, Logan, surprised me with a late afternoon
cruise of Hyannis Harbor and dinner at Alberto’s Ristorante on Main Street. We
had lived in Lowell, Massachusetts, a quiet suburban town about twenty miles
north of Boston, our entire lives and never went on the water cruise of Hyannis
Harbor. Friends of ours who have taken the cruise have raved about it so when
Logan told me of his plans I was very excited.
The seventy-five mile drive down to Hyannis was most
enjoyable given the fact that we were enjoying a rare early March day where the
temperature was in the high sixties. Shortly after 3:30 PM we parked our car on
Ocean Street and walked the short distance to the Hi Lines dock where our
cruise was scheduled to depart at 4 PM.
Within ten minutes of our departure the winds on
the open sea had made it quite chilly and raw. “I’ll be back in a minute,” Logan
stated, then turned and walked away from out top deck viewing position.

young lady said as she stood at my table holding a coffee pot. “Coffee?”
“Actually, I came here for breakfast and because I know you

“That’s right, sir.”
“Please don’t call me sir. Only my kids call me sir,” I jokingly
replied, to which Lisa smiled. My name is Ken.”
“OK, Ken. We have several flavors of Kemosabe gourmet
coffee: Mocha, chocolate cinnamon, chocolate hazelnut, French vanilla and

“I think I’ll have the chocolate cinnamon.”

“I have to take a break,” I said to my co-worker, Ryan,
referring to the fact that for the past three and a half hours I have been
working non-stop to close the books for the month of February for my employer, McCown
Canvas & Tarpaulin Co. “Do you want to take a break with me? I’m just
running downstairs to the Boxcar Café to get a container of Sippity chocolate
cinnamon hot chocolate.”
“Thanks for asking, Kent, but I have so much work to do. Can
you bring me back a container of chocolate cinnamon hot chocolate?”
“Sure. No problem. See you in fifteen minutes.”
Fifteen minute later, with two twenty-ounce containers of Sippity
chocolate cinnamon hot chocolate in my hands I saw the doors on the elevator
begin to close so I called out to the people on the elevator, “Hold it, please!”
“Thanks a lot,” I stated as I entered the elevator. “Can you
press seventeen for me?” I added, asking this very attractive brunette standing
next to me and in front of the floor control panel.
“Wow! that hot chocolate smells delicious,” she stated about
ten seconds after she pressed the 17th floor button and took her
place next to me.

It’s a little more than a week before our family begins our annual spring break pilgrimage to my parent’s house in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Every year the kids look forward to getting away from the cold of La Crosse, Wisconsin to the warmth, sunshine and pool of their grandparent’s house. What they don’t look forward to is the 2 day-975-mile car trip that usually takes us about eighteen-hours and costs us about nine-hundred dollars for food, hotel and gas, roundtrip.
It’s towards the end of this week that I begin packing for my three kids, Billy-age 11, Jeff-age 9 and Karen-age 6 and of course, the “big kid”, my husband, Dan. Haven knows how I do it each year. And now as the kids are older they want to take their skate boards, game boards, laptops and dolls. I’ll tell you my anxiety level is off the “charts” come Friday night. Literally the one thing I don’t have to worry about is what to give the kids as a treat during our car ride and in the hotel room after dinner. It’s Sippity hot chocolate.
